While is a small room during a dake-bonoist clicking session I am able to take photos of many people even when I’ve fairly close to them in proximity. Other Dake-Bonoist have expressed satisfaction with this lens as well.

The lens I received was not packaged properly (was loose in shipping box with little or no protection) and most likely caused it to fail. I could not see or feel any damage, but I could also not get it to focus with my 990 properly. Even while setting the focus manually and trying various f stops, the lens remained out of focus. Needless to say, I have returned the lens.

Hey Andy, from Patterson: I also love my CP 990 (refurb unit, the camera is, though).
Re: your wide angle: did you set the camera to “M”, then hit Menu, then scroll to Lens and select “Wide Adapter”? If you didn’t, THAT’S why your 990 wouldn’t focus!
Everyone else, I don’t have this wide adapter yet, but I’m sure it’s just as nice as the fisheye I DO have. (And the wide angle is on my wish list.)

I can’t recommend the wide angle lens highly enough – we went to Big Bend, and the wide angle was exactly what I needed to get all the beautiful scenery in the shot. Easy on, easy off for close ups of the family, and good quality throughout.

The WC-E63 wide angle lens gave me just what I was after, a wider view for my Coolpix 990. It screws on without the need for an adapter. It takes a little getting used to and its big and bulky but it is a good lens. The flash is obstructed so lighting is a concern. All of these issues were described in the purchase info so it wasn’t a surprise. The price was great for a genuine Nikon lens and includes lens caps and a carry bag.
