It’s ok to be nervous, but I promise you that after the first half an hour you will get into your stride and your photographers instinct will kick in!

Just try and combine a professional demeanour with having fun and everyone else will engage with you. When all the people see you are committed and passionate about creating good photo’s then they will engage with you!

ok- I have my first paid wedding gig for september 4th… what kind of lighting should I buy or rent? And I live in texas so it’s hot right now sun is pretty bright, can u teach me how to tell people which side to stand on? like if it’s a field and onside is like open grass area and the other is like a shady tree. should the people stand under the tree and my back is to the sun or should it be me under the tree and the people with their back 2 the sun? Thanks!

@TheFinoZone Hi, glad it was of use. You are pretty close to your wedding so I would be careful not to go buying lots of new kit you don’t know how to use smoothly as it might just hamper your efforts. Why did they ask you to do it in the first place? Was it because of a certain style of photo you take? Can you stay true to that style?

Outdoor shots can easily be ruined by people looking into the sun but you have to see what comes up – check out the venue as you might need to make choices..

@AndyBJ They picked me because of my style of photography. This I usually do nature photography but I just wanted to know any tips on dealing with the sun since this is for a wedding and not my personal portfolio.. but I will go to the venue and take lots of practice shots… What are the best kind of portable lights that I can take with me for the pics in the morning when they’re getting ready and for the recpetion?

@TheFinoZone I have some off camera flash guns and umbrella’s which I tried to use for the bride and groom shoot last time, but when your moving about the bride in the morning getting ready and then at the party, off camera lighting might not be practical.

As for the sun – just don’t get anyone squinting! I think you need a good backdrop and to watch for harsh shadows. As you suggest shoot in shade if your outside in the middle of the day, but maybe add some flil flash if necessary.

I purchased this book along with the software so I could learn how to use the applications. To take the lessons described in the book requires copying the files from a DVD that comes with the book. Unfortunately, many of the files will not copy to my hard drive. In fact, I couldn’t even select them from Windows Explorer without causing a crash. I’m very disappointed since I need those files to take the lessons. I emailed Adobe Press about the problem, but haven’t received any response.

This book is very complete along with study guides. Makes learning the complex video program a lot easier.
